Supernatural tunes

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]nstead of listening to the typical Halloween songs such as “Thriller” or “The Monster Mash,” try this super spooky playlist.

“Are You Ready for Freddy?” by The Fat Boys
Start off the Halloween season with The Fat Boy’s classic hip-hop single “Are You Ready for Freddy?” The trio released this song in 1988 off their album “Coming Back Hard Again.” This song includes a unique spin, a verse rapped by Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, to depict the surreal presence of the “Nightmare on Elm Street” villain. This upbeat, catchy hip-hop song did not chart; however, the album charted at number 30 on the Billboard top-selling Hip-Hop albums of the week.

“Magic Carpet Ride” by Steppenwolf
Supernatural takes a new meaning when you release the genie inside “Magic Carpet Ride” by the rock band, Steppenwolf. With face melting guitar solos and a tune that’ll stay in your head, “Magic Carpet Ride” will set the tone for any Halloween party. It has been featured in many movies since it’s debut. While most people know Steppenwolf for their road trip must have hit, “Born to Be Wild,” “Magic Carpet Ride” is a great example of classic rock.

“E.T.” by Katy Perry
While “E.T.’s” musical style might have made some critics wonder if Katy Perry really had been abducted, play this song at your party and your guests will do anything but leave. “E.T.’s” thumping beat is easy to dance to, and even the most novice of DJ’s will find its simple structure forgiving. With lyrics that evoke images of aliens and other worldly life, it’s no wonder that “E.T.” topped the Billboard 100 charts.
