Athletic Updates

Girls Soccer
Girls Varsity Soccer finished second in the Duarte Tournament. The Girls defeated Monrovia, Mountain View and Duarte to secure a spot in the championship game against Marshall. In the final game, the Rams and Marshall tied, pushing the game into overtime. After a scoreless overtime, the game went into a shootout, which Temple City lost. There were nine teams in total that competed in the tournament.

Boys Soccer
Boys Varsity Soccer team began the season on a bad note, with five consecutive losses. The Rams played San Dimas, Pasadena, Alhambra, Arroyo and Rosemead. The most recent game the Rams lost by four points. Also, the game against Burroughs High School was rescheduled to Dec. 21, at Burroughs. The original date was planned for Dec. 5; however, no referees showed up to the game due to a scheduling error. The Rams are staying hopeful for wins in the remaining pre-league games and regular season games.

Playing against Arroyo, Senior Matthew Sherman jumps into the fray, taking on multiple players.

Girls Water Polo
Girls Varsity Water Polo started its preseason strong, and despite mid-season difficulties, the team is making a comeback. Some of the team’s success can be attributed to an overall increase in speed and energy. At the Los Altos Tournament on Dec. 7 and 8, the team had difficulty pulling ahead against its competitors and finished the tournament in 13th place in the second bracket. The Rams had no difficulty this Wednesday, winning their game against Burbank in a 9-4 landslide.

Girls Basketball
Girls Varsity Basketball began its season last month, and while the team may have had a tumultuous start, the Lady Rams got back on their feet. Mr. Emmery Thompson, the new head coach, replaced the former coach of Girls Varsity Basketball this season. Coach Thompson rallied the Rams and led them to a 47-24 win against Azusa last Friday. This week they entered the Arroyo Tournament, and faced off against Notre Dame for their first game. Although Temple City suffered a 30-65 loss, the Rams rallied and won against Los Altos in a 62-61 game.
