Start off the season with a fresh peach cobbler

Break from the routine of watermelon or popsicles this summer, and instead, add peaches to the menu. Peaches are naturally sweet and juicy and are perfectly suited for a summer dessert. With just a few simple steps, you can be serving fresh, homemade peach cobbler and have your friends and family begging for the recipe.

Ingredients
6 cups of peaches
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ cup cold water
½ tsp. salt
1 egg
cinnamon powder (according to preference)
2 tbsp. butter
1 9 x 9 or 9 x 11 inch glass baking pan
1 large mixing bowl
2 small mixing bowls

Since peaches are in season in June, it’s almost time to go to your local market and buy some fresh peaches. The softer they are, the riper they are, and the riper the fruit is, the more sweet it tends to be. You will need 6 to 8 peaches in order to fulfill the 6 cups needed for the recipe.

First, peel and thinly slice the peaches with a sharp knife and put them in a large bowl. This is the most difficult and time-consuming step of the recipe. You should be careful when using the sharp knife to peel the peaches because you can easily cut yourself if you begin to slice too fast or get sloppy.

Once the sliced peaches are in the bowl, add ¼ cup of sugar to sweeten them a little more. Stir the mixture until the peaches are evenly coated with sugar.

Using a paper towel, lightly coat the bottom of the large glass baking dish with butter. Buttering the inside of the dish will make your peach cobbler easier to slice and serve. Then, take your peach and sugar mixture and spread it in the baking dish.

Now, mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together in a small bowl. Once the dry mixture is blended, beat an egg in a smaller separate bowl. Add the beaten egg to the dry mixture and stir until everything is nicely mixed. Don’t worry, the mixture should remain dry and granular; it will not become smooth.
You can be more creative with these next few steps since they do not require exact measurements. Take the dry mixture and sprinkle it evenly over the peaches in the baking dish to form a topping. To finish it off, sprinkle cinnamon on top until it is to your liking. Personally, I love the taste of cinnamon, so I sprinkled it generously over the top of my cobbler. Next, drop small bits of butter on top of the cinnamon topped cobbler for a little more flavor. Last, sprinkle cold water lightly over your topping, but not so that it becomes soggy.
After preheating your oven to 350°F, place your peach cobbler in the oven and let it bake for 45 minutes. You’ll know your cobbler is ready when the top is golden brown and your kitchen is filled with the inviting, sweet smell of warm peaches.

Using oven mitts, carefully remove the cobbler from the oven, and let it cool for about an hour, but not too long because as everyone knows cobbler is best served when still warm.
Not only is peach cobbler fast and easy to make, but this recipe will wow your friends and family at any summer picnic or potluck. Start your summer off right with the mouthwatering taste of fresh peaches and cinnamon.
