ELD Classes Split

Due to size, ELD 1A and ELA 1B were split into two periods each on Oct. 21. ELD 1 classes, which are supposed to be capped at 25 students per class, had 31 students each before the change. Principal Ms. Mary Jo Fosselman-King fixed this by splitting the ELD classes down to 16 students each. ELD 1A focuses on teaching students to read and write English, while 1B is for speaking and listening.

ELD 1 teacher Ms. Brenda Pan will teach both classes of 1B, while AP U.S. Government teacher Mr. Michael Shore and Physical Education teacher Mr. Randy Backus will each take a class of 1A for this year only.

5th Quarter Dance

Loud music and the large smiles of Link Leaders and fellow students greeted freshmen as they streamed into Rm. 601 on Friday, Oct. 11, to attend Link Crew’s 5th Quarter Dance. The dance, which lasted from 8:30-10 p.m., was free for freshmen and cost only $2 for other students. The dance featured a live DJ and a free photo booth. Students could purchase snacks for 50 cents or $1 each.

Link Leaders arrived an hour early to set up for the dance by putting up streamers and clear balloons containing glow sticks. Individualized Instructor Mr. Nathan Slaymaker and Counselors Ms. Deanne Sciarrotta and Ms. Kristen Castro supervised the proceedings.

TC Fall Festival & Classic Car Show

Classic Fords gleamed in the afternoon sunlight as the laughter of children and adults rang out from the craft tables on Oct. 19 at Temple City Park. From 12-4 p.m., the park was packed with parents and students as they awaited news of who would win this year’s Classic Car Show, with Antique cars dating from before the 1940s and Street Rods from before 1972.

Young children carried home their crafts from local artisans, including hand-made tote-bags, jewelry and wood carvings. Fall Festival goers could also purchase raffle tickets and try their luck at winning money prizes.
