Go nuts for coconut oil

As a teenage girl, I have tried numerous routes to obtain a healthy complexion and body. Thankfully, I discovered coconut oil, and it seems to work miracles for me.

I prefer to use extra virgin, organic, unrefined coconut oil, which can be found at your local grocery store such as Trader Joe’s. It doesn’t need to be refrigerated and can be kept in a kitchen cabinet or on your sink. Also note that it’s solid at room temperature and liquefies above room temperature.

Deep Conditioning Coconut Oil Treatment
After dying my hair five times, the strands have begun to turn into straw at the ends. Using coconut oil as a deep conditioning treatment rehydrates and brings your precious locks to life. All you need is some coconut oil and a shower cap for this hair-rejuvenating method.

First, melt a dime-sized amount of the oil for short hair or more according to hair length. Coconut oil has a low melting temperature so you can rub it between your hands to melt it or put it in the microwave for around twenty seconds.

Then, dampen your hair, and part it into about four sections or more if you have thicker hair. Use your fingers to brush the oil throughout your hair, slathering on more oil in areas that you want to re-hydrate the most, such as the ends.

Pull a shower cap on around your hair, and make sure to tuck in all loose strands. Next, apply heat to the shower cap by blow drying or sitting in the sun to help the coconut oil melt and soak into your scalp.

The longer amount of time the oil is in your hair, the better the results. However, you should let it sit for at least two hours. It can even be used overnight. Simply place a towel or an old t-shirt over your pillow. After, rinse out your hair with your preferred shampoo until the oil is gone.

In addition to quenching dry hair, coconut oil can also act as a hydrating lotion as it deeply moisturizes and can quickly absorb into the skin. Melt around two teaspoons of oil to cover the whole body.

Oil Pulling
Oil pulling is said to whiten teeth, absorb toxins and bacteria from your mouth, clear acne and provide a multitude of other benefits that essentially improve health, all within your mouth.

After using it for two weeks, my mouth feels cleaner, my teeth are slightly whiter, and my face hasn’t broken out since I started oil pulling. The results aren’t immediate, but within time you’ll notice improvements

First, scoop out one teaspoon of coconut oil.Put the oil into your mouth, but do NOT swallow. It will melt due to the warmth of your mouth and you will be able to swish it around. Keep “pulling” the oil through your teeth and around your mouth for twenty minutes.

If you can’t handle twenty minutes, you can do ten in the morning and then ten at night and work up to twenty minutes. Spit the oil out into a plastic bag or trash can; it’ll clog the sink if you spit it down the drain. Brush your teeth.

Coconut Oil in Smoothies
The very thought of adding oil into smoothies doesn’t sound too appetizing, but this adds a slight, tropical coconut flavor to your drink. It’s both delicious and nutritious.

Also, it lowers cholesterol levels and increases metabolism. To prevent coconut oil from solidifying in your cold beverage, follow these simple steps.

Blend the ingredients for your smoothie first. Then, melt one teaspoon of coconut oil. Turn the blender off and add the coconut oil. Next, turn the blender back on to spread the oil evenly throughout the drink.
