Safety Alert Issued
Administration released a statement on May 21 encouraging students to be wary of suspicious people and vehicles after an unknown man approached an Emperor Elementary student. Students should walk in pairs and be ready to use their cell phones to call 911 in case of emergency.

Miss Temple City Crowned
Former Miss TC Senior Emily Cheng crowned her successor, Junior Monea Alvarez at the 46th Annual Pageant on May 7 at St. Luke’s Parish Hall. Juniors Christine Chen, Rebecca Chen, Tiffanie Jie and Tania Yap are part of the honor court this year, and R. Chen and Yap are princesses.
Each girl took to the stage with a social issue platform, a character segment, a talent portion and concluded with an evening wear walk, accompanied by a Q&A session.

Senior Places at Auto Competition
Senior Matthew Wong competed at the Shell Eco-marathon in Houston, Texas from April 23-27 as part of a team for his ROP Automotive Technology class at Montebello High School. Wong, along with his teammates, placed 18th out of the 130 teams that participated, including students from UCLA and UC Berkeley.
In this multinational competition, the teams had to maximize the mph of their assigned 60 lbs model cars, in order to demonstrate their knowledge in fuel efficiency. Winning teams received small cash prizes.

ROP Photography Shows Off Work
TCHS’ very first photography show took place from 4-7 p.m. on May 19, where students from the ROP Digital Photography class displayed their best works on the shelves of the Media Center.
Families and friends of the students attended the show and admired the pictures that they took over the school year for various assignments. The subjects of the photographs ranged from natural landscapes and school settings to animals and people. The show provided a chance for the students to showcase the skills and enthusiasm for the subject that the students developed by taking the new class.
