Step up your spirit game

In anticipation for our homecoming game, here are a few simple DIYs that will help you show your team spirit.

Spirit Flag

scan part 2

Materials ($4)
Yellow or green plastic tablecloth
Wooden kebab sticks (or chopsticks)
Letter stickers
Hot glue gun
Optional: picture of a ram

Start by cutting 5”x 8” rectangle out of your tablecloth. On the 5” side, add a line of hot glue from the top to the bottom about ¼” away from the edge. Quickly and carefully place the kebab stick onto the glue. After the glue dries, add another line of glue onto the tablecloth about ¼” away from the kebab stick and turn the stick over once so that it folds onto the glue. Finish the flag by decorating it. You can spell out a message displaying your TCHS pride with letter stickers, or print out a picture of a ram from online and tape it onto your flag.

Foamless Foam Finger
Materials ($2)
Cardboard
Scissors
White, yellow or green construction paper
Hot glue gun

Sketch a hand with a pointed index finger onto your construction paper, and make it whatever size you want. Place the piece of cardboard under the paper, and cut out the outline of the hand along with the cardboard. You may want to use a binder clip to keep your paper from shifting. Align the paper with the cardboard and glue the edges together. Cut out the handle, a 1 ½”x 3 ½” rectangle of cardboard, and glue it to the back of the cardboard hand. Decorate your creation to your preference with unique designs or messages cheering on the football team.

Paint your game face on
Materials ($5)
Green or yellow makeup crayon stick (or face paint)
Optional: glitter

Face paint is always a classic way to support your favorite team. Taking the facial crayon or washable paint of your choice, you can experiment with what patterns you prefer. Some popular designs include one or two parallel lines on the cheeks or the letters “TCHS” written anywhere on the face. You can also amp up your design with glitter. Feel free to get creative.

Football Nails
Materials ($7)
Brown and white nail polish
Striper (or toothpick)
Optional: yellow or green nail polish and top coat

Paint your nails a coat of brown. After they dry, paint a white vertical line down the middle of each line using a striper or a toothpick. If you are using a toothpick, try using dabbing motions instead of swiping motions. Add three or four shorter white horizontal stripes along the vertical one. Repeat with all your nails. You can add an accent nail, which is usually your ring finger, by painting it green and yellow for a pop of color. Finish with a top coat to seal in your design.

Ram Horns Headband
Materials ($3)
Headband
2 paper clips
Brown, pink and white construction paper
Hot glue gun

Unwind your paper clips until they are both straight lines of wire. Shape each wire into a triangle about ⅓ of the way in on each side of the headband, securing the bases by wrapping them twice and adding a dot of glue. Fold all the papers in half. Along the crease, sketch a ram horn onto the brown paper, an oval with a pointed end (this will be the ears) onto the white paper and a slightly smaller oval onto the pink paper. Cut out the outlines and then cut them in half along the fold. Glue the pink center onto the white ears, and glue each horn and ear to a triangle.
