Oak is across the street and they want their clothes back

Here at the high school, we have the students that are fashionistas who keep up with latest styles but we also have a handful of students that need to step up their fashion game because they’re making us look like the bottom of the style barrel.

Let go of Oak
When you wear your old Oak t-shirts, it not only makes you unfashionable, but it also makes you appear like someone that just can’t let go of the past. If Elsa was to break down this matter, she would tell you to let it go and that the past is in the past.
We don’t care which former team you were on, which clubs you joined at Oak, and if you were in orchestra or band. Everyone wants to see something new and appealing, and without a doubt, your Oak team t-shirt is not on that list.
No one cares what team you were on last year or the year before that. They either know already or it doesn’t matter. What happens in Oak, stays in Oak. Your Oak shirts had their moments back then now just leave them there.
The only acceptable days to wear your former Oak t-shirts is when we have Throwback Thursdays for spirit weeks. However, when you wear your Oak t-shirts almost every day, it completely destroys the purpose of it. No one can possibly have Throwback Thursdays every single day of the week. Plus, there’s only one Thursday every week if you haven’t noticed yet.

Getting with the times
Instead of constantly promoting former extracurricular activities and clubs back at Oak, keep it fresh and present. Abandon those old, shabby Oak t-shirts and replace them with current club t-shirts, sports teams offered at the high school and basically anything that occurs here at TCHS.
Changing up the t-shirts in your closet from the past to the present will not only help you appear more like someone that is living in the present but it will also help cut down the amount of students that are attempting to resurrect their Oak t-shirt.

Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize
Some suggestions that could enhance your looks include but are not limited to accessories for girls, pocket tees or well-fitting polos for guys and experimenting with different textures.
Accessories are often overlooked but can instantly dress up any look.
Pairing a bold jeweled necklace with a simple t-shirt or tank will take away the simplicity of the shirt and provide a fresh, new vibe to the outfit. When the heat ends and the fall weather finally comes around the corner, Consider investing in a scarf. Scarves are definitely the easiest and fastest way to glam up your look. Grab a printed or brightly hued scarf and watch how it can turn your outfit into a more textured and colorful look.

Guys can have style too
For guys, basketball shorts are not fashionable in any way. If you don’t play sports or isn’t heading for the basketball court to shot hoops, then stop wearing them everyday.
Drop those basketball shorts and in exchange, try either short or long khaki pants. Don’t forget to replace those simply t-shirts with some pocket tees or even polos. Pocket tees and polos can easily be matched with a pair of jeans or khaki pants and throw on a pair of sneakers to complete that look. Make sure to experiment with colors and see what looks good on you as well.

Change up the textures
Another way to add some excitement is to mix and match different textures. Together like black leather legging and chambray or a comfy knit with sequins is a perfect way to glam up a simple knit.
Any of these techniques will help spice up your fashion game and make you less of a fashion atrocity and more of a fashion icon on campus.
