Dress with class without breaking the bank

With Homecoming right around the corner, many of us are on the prowl for a fancy new look. But as much as we wish we had a closet full of Sherri Hill and La Femme gowns, most of us can’t exactly get our hands on a designer dress. Luckily, breaking the bank is not necessary to look good, but knowing where to shop is.

Expensive Style: $245

If you prefer more sophisticated jewelry, Swarovski crystals are a fine choice over cheaper glass accessories. This elegant necklace, priced at $75, is a perfect way to fancy up your attire. FASHION TIP: The color of your jewelry can change the overall tone of your skin. Gold jewelry will make you appear more tan while silver jewelry will make your skin look brighter.

Dark, jeweled-tones adore all skin colors and add a touch of elegance to any look. The sapphire blue has a regal air to it, and goes well with the royal theme. Although the dress itself is lovely, the price is not. This dress is set at $110 from Windsor — more than the entire pink outfit.

These 4 inch, sparkly Madden Girl heels from Macy’s complement the silver jewels on the dress perfectly. However, although they may be appealing to the eye, they cost a whooping $60.

LIFE HACK: If you ever find yourself drawn to an expensive but fancy pair of heels, ask if you can purchase the display ones. They may be a little worn, but the difference in price may be worth it. These heels were originally priced at $60, but I was able to cop them for $45.

Affordable Style: $35

Although expensive jewelry may look more authentic, you do not need to be sporting Tiffany & Co. diamonds to look like a million bucks. This necklace was only $5 at Claire’s and accentuates the collarbones.

This stylish and afforable A-line dress adorned with silver accents is a perfect fit for a princess, just in time for Homecoming’s princess theme. Despite the dress’s intricate design, it costs no more than $10 because it’s from Windsor’s sale rack. FASHION TIP: The sales rack is your friend; check it for good deals.

Shoes are typically never the main focus at dances, so don’t opt for outfit specific shoes. Instead, invest in a nice pair of heels that pair well with anything. Payless is a great alternative to brand name department stores like Macy’s and Nordstrom. These affordable nude heels were only $15 and can still express the outfit with a nice, feminine look.
