Annual Book Fines Race

Year after year, Temple City High School hosts the joyous occasion of students battling as they compete to reach the media center before their peers in a race to pay off book fines.
Students rejoice when they receive a personal letter informing them of their missing books and various damage fines. Even their parents can not hold back the pride they feel when learning that their children accomplished such a feat.
“After coming home from a long day at work, I was really happy to learn that my daughter finally received her mail of book fines,” Ms. Vary N. Det said. “She’s been really nervous the past few days and couldn’t wait for it to arrive. I was thrilled at the good news!”
Likewise, students are queueing up during registration when they are available to be the lucky ones that reach the media enter first. They all know that this is a golden opportunity given to them by the school that they cannot miss.
“I came here as fast as I could, quicker than the rest of my classmates,” Senior Brai N. Lis said. “When I looked around at the excited faces of my fellow peers as we anxiously waited in line for our turn, I knew I made the right decision to wake up at the break of dawn so that I could bike five miles to school to pay my fines.”
