Fall sports games to look forward to

A new school year marks the beginning of fall athletics, when varsity athletes will compete once again for their respective CIF division title.

Girls Varsity Tennis
The Girls Tennis team will hit the courts after ending their previous season with an overall record of 16 wins and three losses, along with the CIF Division III title. The team expects to perform at the same level despite having moved up to Division II.
Head Coach Nathan Slaymaker recommends students to cheer the team on at the home games with La Cañada on Sept. 26 and San Marino on Oct. 19. Both matches are among the most critical games that the Lady Rams must play.

Boys Varsity Water Polo
Following a successful season, the Boys Varsity Water Polo team will once again enter the pool, determined to further their CIF journey.
Despite losing one of their starters, the team will rely on their younger, but experienced, players.
“This season’s going to be great,” Senior Keanté Simpson-Khuu said. “We have a full team of experienced veterans that also play club water polo.”
The team encourages students to come watch all of their home games for the exhilarating gameplay and atmosphere.
Home games often occur on Tuesday or Thursday but because of pool maintenance, official dates have yet to be finalized.

Girls Varsity
Volleyball
A promising season awaits the Girls Volleyball team as they will return with the strength of experienced players. The team has made position adjustments to optimize the team’s performance. Players ensure an exciting home match on Sept. 28 versus South Pasadena, due to their consistent high level of competition.

Cross Country
The Cross Country team will run up and down courses as they are coming off a grueling summer practice and workout regimen.
The team is eager to showcase their hard work at the Mt. San Antonio College race, which may occur on either Oct. 20 or 21. This is one of the most rigorous course the team will face and is compiled of steep, exhausting hills.
“We may even qualify for CIF this year,” Senior Jamie Ng said. “We have a lot of committed and promising runners who all put in a hundred percent effort.”
