Girls Softball

As the reigning CIF Champions, varsity softball started off their 2023 season with two league conference wins, pushing them to first in the Rio Hondo League. Players and coaches received their rings on Feb. 16 during a ceremony to commemorate last year’s championship-winning season.

“It felt rewarding to finally get the rings and it gave a sense of closure for everything last season,” junior Kaylee Won said. “The long season that led up to state finals, our season being extended by over a month, being physically drained and long practices paid off when we won the CIF state championships.”

This week, the Rams will face La Cañada High School in an away and a home game on March 20 and 23, respectively.

Boys Tennis

The boys varsity tennis team heads into spring with a 4-0 preseason record, defeating Alhambra High School, Mark Keppel High School, Polytechnic School and Crescenta Valley High School.

The team is scheduled for an away match at Monrovia High School on March 21 and a home match against Blair High School on March 22. They end the week at home against the San Marino Titans on March 24.

Boys Baseball

So far this season, baseball defeated the San Marino Titans on March 3 with a final score of 3-2, lost to Monrovia High School by 10-0 that same week and secured a 5-3 win against La Cañada High School. The team also played an away game at South Pasadena High School this past Friday.

This week, baseball is set to face off against La Cañada once again in an away game on March 20 and a home game on the 23.

Boys Golf

The rainy conditions postponed several boys golf games. On March 16, golf played their first league game against La Cañada and lost 195-199. This week, golf plays Gabrielino High School on March 21 and Monrovia High School on March 23.

Track and Field

Due to a coaching staff shortage, traditional track and field events including shot put and short distance are put on hold for the year. The only event available for participation is long-distance which is coached by Mike Tomasulo.

Last week, the team attended the Rosemead Invitational on March 11, the Monrovia Dual Meet on March 13 and the Arcadia Distance Meet on March 18. This week, the Rams will attend the Azusa Pacific University Distance Meet on March 25.

Boys Volleyball

This week, boys volleyball will host South Pasadena and La Canada High School at home on March 21 and 23, respectively.

Due to injuries among setters, senior Joshua Chen and freshman Matthew Kong, the team had to make several adjustments. However, the team still believes they can make a run this season.

“Despite my injury, I have faith in my team. We all have a lot of potential to grow and truly exceed all expectations this season,” Chen said. “We work really well together and I believe that with hard work and our innate talent, we can become a very strong team that can be very successful.”
