Students talk representation

“One problem with being underrepresented is that there are no people from my country, people who dress like me to talk to, so it was kind of lonely at the beginning. But then I started talking to people and started to get to know them, it made me feel good.”

—Sophomore Khalida Nazari

“Well this school is obviously Asian dominated and I’m Latino, so it definitely feels a little like being an outsider when you’re in a school with a bunch of people that aren’t similar to you. And I think it lies more with the students than the school to make people feel included and connected.”

—Freshman Emilio Madrigal

“I think a lot of people would be more accepting of who they are or would find out a lot sooner, if the school taught more or showed that they cared more about the LGBTQ+ community. It’s kind of annoying because the teachers don’t really do much about it and some of the students don’t really get it.”
