Fall fashion reflects students’ creativity

During the autumn months, students express themselves and create cozy fall outfits.

Aerin Dumaua

Sophomore Aerin Dumaua pairs low-rise flare jeans from Hollister with a white cable-knit sweater from American Eagle. She wears pink hair ribbons and adds a touch to her outfit with the Return To Tiffany heart necklace and a bracelet from Tiffany & Co. Dumaua completes the outfit with Adidas ‘Chocolate to My Strawberry’ Forum Lows.

Dumaua takes inspiration from social media trends or characters from her favorite movies and TV shows. She dresses with simple staple pieces that can be styled in various ways with other accessories and used year-round in different trends. Some characters she admires for their style are Rory and Lorelei Gilmore from Gilmore Girls and Mia Thermopolis from Princess Diaries.

“Fashion lets me express myself according to my mood or how I want to feel for the day,” Dumaua said. “Personally I don’t feel like I have a distinct particular style, but I just wear whatever I feel represents my personality or me as a whole. I feel that fashion plays a big role in boosting my self-confidence and overall well being.”

Fiona Chen

Senior Fiona Chen’s Abercrombie & Fitch leather jacket compliments her white dress from MILK. She accessorizes the outfit with a black heart necklace from MILK, a black-and-white plaid heart clip and a beret from HeartE. Chen pairs the outfit with Dr. Marten Jadon leather platform boots.

Chen looks at Pinterest for outfit inspiration, searching for unique, different styles. Her outfits also depend on her mood. She sports Korean street wear on days when she feels lazy and likes ‘60-70s Japanese fashion if she’s feeling happy. Chen enjoys minimalistic, high quality pieces that can be paired with anything.

Deryk Cobb

Senior Deryk Cobb wears a gray blue-striped Old Navy drawstring hoodie with a light gray button-up jacket from H&M over a black shirt. He styles tan cargo pants from GAP with white Fila Men’s A-Low shoes, creating a look that captures the coziness of autumn.

When Cobb gets dressed in the morning, he usually enjoys coming up with his outfits by himself. On the occasion that he can’t create a new outfit, he likes to scroll on Pinterest for outfit inspiration. Cobb doesn’t have a style or aesthetic that he fits his outfits into.

“Wearing an outfit that looks good is the reason I like fashion,” Cobb said. “I don’t have a specific style, I just wear what I think looks nice.”
