New Wi-Fi networks are now available to students and staff, along with unique passwords for all users in hopes of speeding up the networks.

“The Wi-Fi is slower than a turtle,” sophomore Scarlett Juarez said. “I’m excited for the new Wi-Fi and I hope that it will be an update from last year’s.”

Previously, tcusd-staff was the only available network on campus. There are now five new networks available on campus: TCUSD-Secure, TCUSD-IOT, TCUSD-Guest, TCUSD-Connect and TCUSD-Students. District workers implemented the networks and routers the week before school during registration.

“At the district office, we do have some new members in the technology department who

thought that they should improve the Wi-Fi due to previous feedback about it,” the new Site Instructional Technology Support Technician Joy Xanh said. “These changes were made to hopefully improve the Wi-Fi network.”

Tcusd-staff will remain open for approximately three more months to support a smooth transition to the new networks. Students will use TCUSD-Student, and staff will use TCUSD-Secure. Additional networks include TCUSD-IOT for the ViewSonic boards and TCUSD-Guest for visitors.

TCUSD-Connect will act as a portal for students to obtain their unique password. Once connected, students will be redirected to a website where they will sign in with their Google account and acquire a personalized Wi-Fi password. One student can only have one device connected to TCUSD-Student at a time.
