Students sported rainbow colors on Monday, and on Tuesday, students wore blue and black or white and gold, based on “the dress” photo which went viral. Car Parts Theft

Special Education Teacher Ms. Chi Vong found her car vandalized on March 20. The culprits sawed off the catalytic converters from her vehicle, resulting in $4000 in damages. The catalytic converter tranforms toxic gasses in the hot exhaust into less harmful emissions. Thieves usually look for the platinum, palladium or rhodium in these car parts. Administration is suggesting teachers to try and park closer to the media center so that the their cars may show up on camera and to deter theives who would not want to risk coming closer to the main part of the school.

Intro to Horticulture Class

Next year, our school will offer Introduction to Horticulture as an elective. The curriculum covers the basics of gardening and assisting vegetation, as well as the physiology and anatomy of plants. Students will also learn how certain factors impact plants such as soil, water and sunlight. There will be hands-on activities and projects, and the class emphasis will be on classwork instead of homework. This course will not be counted as a college preparatory class.

AP Computer Science Class

Students are able to select AP Computer Science as a math elective next year. Last October, Juniors Celena Chen and Ryan Chu petitioned to create this class by collecting signatures from interested students. AP Computer Science students will learn how to program. Nearly any job can make use of computer science; for example, researchers can write programs to stimulate experiments and artists can write programs to generate geometric art.
