Former South Pasadena coach to lead varsity football

After much anticipation, Temple City Administration has announced the hiring of former South Pasadena Assistant Football Coach Marc Shettleroe as Head Varsity Football Coach. Shettleroe has been in South Pasadena’s football program since 2012, and also coached Varsity Softball.

Shettleroe’s previous head coaching experiences include stepping in at the last minute to coach South Pasadena’s last game of the season against La Cañada in November, leading the team to a 21-3 victory.

“I know [Coach Shettleroe], ” South Pasadena Principal Janet Anderson said. “This past year [Coach Shettleroe] stepped in and led the team in a very positive way, and his enthusiasm for the game and the players is very clear.”

Coach Shettleroe is busy assembling his staff, but the team will see at least one familiar face. Freshman Head Coach Riley Saxon will be on staff as well.

“I am a huge fan of Coach Shettleroe!” Coach Saxon said. “I am excited to work with him and learn from him. He’s a really good guy and I think he has a great vision for the program and the kids and parents are going to really enjoy working with him, as will I.”
