Coach Slaymaker says goodbye

After coaching for the past five years, this year will be Head Tennis Coach Nate Slaymaker’s last with his teams.
“Leaving the position of tennis coach was a very hard choice for me,” Coach Slaymaker said. “I have truly loved coaching the amazing tennis athletes for the past five years.”
Under his guidance, the Varsity Girls team won their first CIF Championship in 2016, which a TCHS sport hasn’t won in 12 years.
Another one of Coach Slaymaker’s accomplishments is that the Varsity Boys throughout the years consistently qualified for CIF playoffs.
After talking with his players and the school, Coach Slaymaker decided to leave his position, which means there will either be a new Varsity Boys and Girls tennis replacement or one for each.
Currently, finding an instructor for the Varsity Girls is more important because their season begins this September.
“We’d really be looking for somebody who has coaching experience and a tennis background,” Athletic Director Cary Smith said. “And most importantly, somebody who would work well with our students to make sure that our players enjoy and get the most out of their experience.”
For now, it is unknown who will take over, as the administration has not posted the application yet.
“I am excited about the future of the team as both girls and boys teams have great young players,” Coach Slaymaker said. “Keep up all the good work and keep being great representatives of TCHS.”
