Spring break calls for SoCal beaches

Spring break is all about relaxing and having the best time of your life and luckily here in California the golden coast is just around the corner, but not all beaches are one in the same, in fact there are a diversity in beaches with unique qualities and activities that attract people from all over.

Seal Beach
With the second longest wooden pier in California, Seal Beach is also known as the go to destination for those who are on the lookout for gnarly waves.
A perfect surfing area for those who are ready to shred, Seal Beach is also home to the popular M&M surfing school that has been teaching new surfers for over twenty years with lessons around $77 dollars with surfboard and equipment included.
“It’s a feeling of letting go and forgetting everything else,” Counselor Ms. Diane Sciarrotta said. “I feel like when I’m finished surfing I feel clean as if the tide washed away all my problems and when I get out I feel like a different person.”
Seal Beach promises a whole a range of attractions for the whole family such as the Seal Beach National Wildlife Refuge or the Naval Station, Seal Beach is also perfect for anybody who wants to just chill out.

Redondo Beach
This beach can be fun, but the real attraction should be what happens away from the shore.
With an array of fresh seafood served at these seaside restaurants, one might think it would be easy to catch a glimpse of sea creatures at play and the answer is yes!
With many boat rides that range in showing fish to sea lions as well as whale and dolphin watching.

Crystal Cove
A state park, Crystal Cove looks like a scene from a Studio Ghibli movie with a curtain of chaparral cliffs and more than three miles of beach and tidepools, Crystal Cove is the place to be for those in the mood to explore, relax, and take some aesthetic pictures.

Santa Monica
The epitome of the phrase “Party in the U.S.A,”Santa Monica is perfect for a friends weekend getaway.
Only a thirty mile drive from Temple City, Santa Monica offers a whole range of activities from the many seaside restaurants, the aquarium, shopping centers and most importantly the Pacific Park.
Home to an array of thrill rides like the West Coaster, Sea Dragon and the Pacific Wheel, this amusement park by the shore along with the rest of the city is what proves that California knows how to party.

Catalina Island
When Santa Catalina Island comes to mind, Senior Kyle Chiu can’t help but lose himself over the thought of the crystal clear water under a bustling city wharf.
“Scuba diving was so surreal,” Chiu said. “It felt very calm and beautiful, an environment that was completely different from the one I’m used too.”
Home to the iconic Catalina Casino, small houses, a bustling port and beautiful scenery one can’t help but to flock to the island get away to chill at the beach as well as scuba dive.
Scuba Diving off of Catalina presented a whole new world to Chiu that was beautiful just as much as it was scary.

Long Beach
One of the most well known beaches off the California Coast, Long Beach is the place for parties, surfing, and just all out fun.
The only downside is that the beach is always very crowded, but with all the fun in store it’s totally worth it.
