Students create Therapy Dog Club
After receiving an approval from ASBL, ambassadors of the Therapy Dog Program chartered the Therapy Dog Club, with English teacher Savay Lieu as the adviser. Students can interact with Cabby and Lexi, the dogs on campus, and learn about their roles.
“It’s a really unique opportunity to interact with dogs, especially on a school campus,” junior David Sim said. “We ambassadors walk around with the dogs so students can pet and interact with them even if it’s for a short amount of time.”
Only handlers can take the dogs into their classrooms but they must check whether students and teachers have allergies before bringing them in.
Meetings take place every Monday at lunch in Room 103.
Pool dedication & State of the District Address
Parents, students and staff gathered at the media center on Sept. 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to listen to the State of the District Address, then at the pool deck to attend the formal dedication of the new swimming pool.
The event began with Superintendent Kimberly Fricker acknowledging various district accomplishments, including TCHS becoming a California Distinguished School. After the 30-minute address, attendees enjoyed refreshments and moved to the school pool, where the Pride of Temple City Marching Band performed.
During the dedication, Principal Richard Lohman gave a speech to celebrate the completion of the swimming pool. Attendees also explored the new softball field.
Online student store
At the beginning of the school year, ASBL created an online store to make it more convenient for students to buy school items such as P.E. clothes and ASB cards.
Students and parents can pay for their items online but must pay a 3% convenience fee for every purchase, which will go to the credit card company. They must show their receipt to pick up their items in Room 311.
Parents and students can access the store by visiting the TCHS website and looking under the “For Students” tab. The school will add more to their catalog as the year progresses.
