County officials extend Safer at Home order, announce free testing

L.A. County officials extended the Safer at Home order to May 15 in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Additionally, everyone, except for children under age 2 is required to wear cloth face coverings or masks when entering essential businesses.

In TC, there are 13 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of April 15.

To schedule a COVID-19 test, individuals must call their health care providers, and their doctors will guide them through the next steps. Eligible residents must show flu-like symptoms; however those  who are ages 65 and older, have chronic health conditions and are essential workers are prioritized for same or next day appointments. To find out if you are eligible for a free test, visit https://lacovidprod.service-now.com/rrs.

Several food services are available for children, seniors and families. TCUSD students can pick up a free Grab & Go lunch at the TCHS Student Parking Lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The district will serve two lunch meals per child on Monday and Wednesday, and one meal on Friday. Students must remain in their cars and drive through to receive their meals; however, students walking there must follow special instructions upon arrival. Student IDs are not required unless a student is not present and the parent is there in the student’s place.

Seniors in need of assistance or meals may send someone under the age of 65 to pick up a packaged meal from locations such as Temple City-Live Oak Park Community Center and the San Gabriel Senior Center.

TCHS students must submit their course verification and schedule change request forms by April 27 for the next school year. To view the full directions, students can visit https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ypSuQ61zgGEKyiikspjkRWDygevmLljeSihZEOKdwsw/edit.
