County announces slow reopening, free testing

L.A. County officials aim to safely reopen the County by gradually easing the restrictions of the Safer at Home order over the next couple of months by July 4. Residents, except for people with certain disabilities and children under age two, are required to wear a face-covering outside at all times to provide protection against the virus.

There are 144 confirmed cases, including 17 deaths, of COVID-19 in TC as of May 25.

Public areas such as parks, beaches, community gardens, trails for hiking, tennis courts and golf courses are now open. Playgrounds will remain closed despite the reopening of parks. Businesses that offer products and services needed for houses, including home appliances and hardware stores, now allow in-store shopping. Clothing stores, toy stores and bookstores are available for pick-up and delivery only.

All residents can schedule an appointment for free COVID-19 testing, whether they show COVID-19 symptoms or not. However, testing is prioritized for people with symptoms and essential workers. To register for a test, visit https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/.
