Guest DJS: Kelvin Chuong and Shelly Huang

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, Rampage decided to interview Seniors Kelvin Chuong and Shelly Huang, a couple that has been together for four years. While the two are close and playfully banter with each other constantly, their individual tastes in music are diverse, showcasing their complementary personalities.

“Perfect Two” by Auburn
Since this is the first song Chuong and Huang listened to together, this sweet, melodic piece holds a special place for them. The high-pitched vocals and cute lyrics give this song a catchy flow and tune.

“Simply Amazing” by Trey Songz
The couple half-jokingly and half-seriously states that this romantic ballad has accurately described their own relationship for the past couple of years. The pop song delivers a satisfying balance between Songz’s smooth vocals and R&B beats.

“Star Spangled Man” by Alan Menken and David Zippel
A self-declared American patriot, Chuong describes this as one of his favorite songs, enjoying the upbeat tune and quick tempo. Reminiscent of the 1940’s, this wartime piece from the movie “Captain America: the First Avenger” showcases nationalism and instills a sense of optimism.

“You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt
This song immediately reminds Chuong of his girlfriend, with the soulful voice of Blunt singing in a melancholic tone and expressing a tender feeling of romance.

“He Mele No Lilo” by Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu and the Kamehameha Schools Children’s Chorus
This traditional Hawaiian piece gets a makeover for the movie “Lilo & Stitch,” and is one of the songs Huang and Chuong enjoy listening to together. This song features a combination of children’s voices and background instrumentals.

“Love Me Like You Do” by Ellie Goulding
A new synth-pop single from the highly acclaimed singer, Goulding’s unique vocals and instrumental layers mix beautifully to create a song filled with emotions and is the couple’s latest jam.
