Eno boards receive mixed reception

TCUSD’s Financial Needs Assessment and Improvement Program, approved Nov. 2012, is beginning to take shape in the form of the high-tech Eno boards. The district hired Digital Networks Group to install Eno Interactive Whiteboards because FNAIP included an initiative to upgrade classroom technology.

Every classroom, except for those in the 100s and 200s, which are scheduled for demolition this summer, has received the boards, but they will not be fully operational until the projectors are installed over Winter Break.
Response to the $10,200 boards has been positive; however, some teachers have expressed their concern with regards to the placement.

“I’m really looking forward to working with it. From what I’ve seen from demonstrations, I think it will allow me to do things like organize, research in class and save board notes,” English teacher Mr. Dale Smith said. “I just wish it was centered.”

Project manager Mr. Daniel Rodriguez has said that although the contractors take teacher preference into consideration, spatial limitations take precedence.

“Prior to installation, all room locations were reviewed with the site principals and staff on at least three occasions,” Mr. Rodriguez said. “Some installations in the science buildings were corrected after installing because we couldn’t put them in the ideal location, but a few installations had to be installed off center to the room because of other items in the room, such as smoke alarms, clocks, speakers, etc.”
