Get ahead with AP test prep

AP season is right around the corner, so it’s time to start your studying (if you haven’t already). Here are some tips to help you pass the upcoming stressful May tests and get the best score possible.

Pace your studying

Don’t cram the entire textbook the week before your AP test! It’s better to start now in order to have sufficient time to review all the material. Make a general daily plan for what you’re going to study and stick to it! You don’t need to study for hours and hours, just dedicate some time each day to focus on a particular area. In addition, by reviewing early, you will have enough time to ask your friends and teachers about any confusing material.

Do practice tests

Although you might skim over a section because you think you know it already, you might end up unsure when it comes up on the test. In order to make sure that you actually know the content, try practice exams. There are many practice tests and past exams available online to test your knowledge and determine what you need to focus on.

Get a test prep book

The textbooks for your classes go more in-depth than you necessarily need for the AP exam, plus they’re super long. Test prep books are a lot shorter, so they’re much easier to read. If you need more explanation on a specific topic than what the test prep books provide, you can continue reading from the textbook. There are many test prep books available for purchase, like Barron’s, The Princeton Review and more. If you cannot afford to buy one, the Media Center has some that you can borrow.
