TCEA Negotiations Update
As a result of Feb. 10 negotiations meeting, Temple City Education Association reached a tentative agreement with the school district. Both negotiating teams agreed upon a 2.5% raise in salary along with increasing the district’s contribution to the TCEA benefits fund. The increase is retroactive, which means that union members will receive a check of 2.5% of their pay since July.
On Feb. 21, TCEA announced the approval of the tentative agreement after voting on Feb. 19.
The school board will discuss and decide to approve or reject the agreement at the board meeting on Feb. 26.
“I was very happy that teachers have been engaging with the board and letting them hear their wants, needs and concerns,” TCEA Vice President and psychology teacher Kyla Hjertstedt said. “I hope that as we move forward, more teachers will regularly address the board and help inform them about what teachers and students need and want.”
